Intraoral Cameras

Lurking beneath the surface of your teeth there may be many important details your dentist won’t be able to spot without the help of technology. A dental intraoral camera provides our dentists with an upclose look at exactly what matters most. Used both during procedures and as a way to assess the condition of your mouth and teeth, intraoral cameras help us spot problems before they arise or to perform a quick intervention as they develop.

How does it work?

An intraoral camera is a very small device placed at the end of a wand that can be easily threaded throughout the mouth. Images captured on the camera are blown up and displayed on an LED monitor for closer inspection. This technology is more powerful than traditional x-rays, as it allows us to capture the nuances of the mouth, gums and teeth to an unparalleled degree. This allows your dentist to design far more highly targeted and specific treatment plans.

Intraoral cameras are essential diagnosis and patient education tools. They are also essential in designing more powerful patient record files, as they can be easily pulled for consultations with other providers should you move out of town. They are also incredibly useful for dental specialists like maxillofacial surgeons, who can examine our records before even meeting you and better prepare for a pre-surgery examination.

ZOOM! Whitening

Zoom teeth whitening is performed in our office and gives you dramatic results in just one hour. During the procedure, a safe and highly effective whitening gel will be applied to your teeth. A strong light will then be directed at the teeth, activating the gel and intensifying the whitening effect. After the Zoom treatment, your teeth can be up to ten shades whiter!

How safe is teeth whitening?

Countless clinical studies attest to what we have seen for ourselves in the field for years: carbamide or hydrogen peroxide teeth whitening is very safe. This is all the more true when done under supervision.

Are there any side effects?

Teeth can be sensitive after teeth whitening, though not in all patients. That’s why we recommend doing it under the supervision of your dentist, who can ensure you are a good candidate. Your dentist is also trained to determine formula concentration that’s right for you.

How does an over the counter whitener differ from the Philips Zoom?

The Philips Zoom contains potassium nitrate and Amorphous Calcium Phosphate (ACP), and can be customized to suit your individual needs. Put simply, OTC solutions cannot be adjusted in this tailor made manner. There is further customization in the intensity of the light applied to your teeth during your in-office visit.

For how long can I expect my Zoom whitening to be effective?

You will see instant results with the Zoom whitener. However, continuing to consume the same products that created the initial stains may eventually result in the return of discoloration. As such, it’s best to avoid dark coffee and soft drinks. Continuing to use Zoom whitening products at home can help reduce the rate of re-staining.

Why are my teeth discolored?

Many dark-colored foods like coffee, red wine, tea, fruits and berries can easily stain teeth, which become all the more susceptible with age. Trauma can also be a cause, as can smoking and some medications.

How long will it take before I start to see results?

You will see results with the Philips Zoom within one day. In fact, if you go for the in-office option, you can see results in as little as forty-five minutes! While at-home application won’t be quite as quick, you should see the same improvement within one to two weeks.

Digital X-Rays

Digital radiography is the latest generation of dental x-ray technology. This technique uses an electronic sensor (instead of x-ray film) that captures and stores the digital image on a computer. This image can be instantly viewed and enlarged helping the dentist detect problems easier. Digital x-rays are very important and have many benefits. At Dental Health Group we are conscious of you and your family’s well-being. Because of this, we wanted to ensure that you had all the benefits of an x-ray with as few of the risks as possible.

Some advantages of digital x-rays include the following:

With this new advance in technology, x-rays may also reveal:

Problems inside a tooth or below the gum line

No matter how low the radiation exposure of digital x-ray is, at Dental Health Group we strive to keep the number and frequency of x-rays to as low as reasonably possible and base the decision on an individual basis.

Intraoral Scanners

At Dental Health Group we offer state of the art technology that allows us to provide the highest standards of dentistry to our patients. Our digital dental scanners are a perfect example of this.

A scanner is a device we use to create a digital impression of your teeth and gums. It is quick, painless, and non-invasive. It uses a wand-like camera inside your mouth to capture images, and then creates an accurate 3D digital model of your teeth and gums with the use of specialized software. The image of the model is presented immediately on a screen. You are able to see first hand what your dentist sees when they look in your mouth.

Dental scanners are used in a variety of dental procedures, including restorative treatments such as crowns, bridges, and implants. It is also used for orthodontic treatments such as Invisalign. They provide a more accurate and detailed view of your teeth and gums than traditional dental impressions. Patients prefer it as we no longer need to use the messy, putty style material that has to set in a tray while in your mouth. Dental scanners are also efficient reducing your time in the chair.

What are the benefits to intraoral scanning?
